About Kitzman's Farm Sanctuary

Our Mission

Our Mission

Our Mission

Kitzman’s Farm Sanctuary provides a safe and loving home where animals can live out their lives with dignity and care. We aim to educate the community about sustainable farm life through hands-on experiences in bee keeping, flower farming, and animal welfare.

Our Mission

501C3

From the beginning, we personally funded the care of every animal here—from feed and immunizations to vet visits and farrier work. As our sanctuary has grown and more animals have come to rely on us, we realized we could do even more with the help of others who share our passion for animal welfare. That’s why, in 2025, we became a 501c3b non-profit organization. This allows us to welcome support from donors, expand our impact, and continue giving animals the lifelong care they deserve.

Meet Cat

Hi everyone! My name is Cat, and I am an animal lover & advocate. I'm the assistant farm manager at Kitzman's Farm Sanctuary & Harmony Hills Animal Sanctuary, as well as a wildlife rehabber for Illinois.

I've worked with animals throughout my entire life; I have experience with all farm animals, as well as raccoons, otters, fox, deer, and so many more! I'm a self taught farrier, and I know how to vaccinate/medicate animals. Currently I am in school to be a vet tech, and I hope to further my career by becoming a vet for the sanctuaries I work at. When I'm not hanging out with animals I love to draw, paint, and do tattoos! :)

Did you know...

- It costs $3,000-$5,000 to run the farm monthly.

- We go through a minimum of 1,000 bales of hay per year.

- One farrier visit costs $200. The farrier comes every 4-6 months.

- One bag of equine feed costs $50. We go through a bag a week.

- We go through a pallet of wood pellets monthly for bedding.

- We spayed and neutered 4 kittens and one puppy this year, costing $1,000.

- Oliver's Corner Market donates 2 totes of food scraps daily to our pigs.

- We have pigs that were transported to our sanctuary from Michigan.
